Belarus

A team led by Thomas Fowler from the church visited Svetlogorsk in Belarus in June 2007 as part of the long-term Mendip-Svetlogorsk partnership. The team were all professional arts trainers and ran two weeks of voice, dance and DJ classes for children from all social backgrounds including orphanages. At the end of the two weeks all the participants had the opportunity to perform to families and officials at a specially arranged concert for the town.

Belarus was a former soviet state and is the most economically deprived country in Europe. The country on the USA’s list of countries referred to as the ‘axis of evil’ mainly because of the political situation. For more info on Belaus: CLICK HERE
