Tanzania

In July 2004 a team of seven people from the Elim Christian Centre travelled to Morogoro in Tanzania for a two week mission.  It was an experience not to be forgotten and where we met pain and hardship we also found joy and friendship.  It all started with a visit from Pastor Lee to Wells to visit some of his family.  Pastor Lee is a minister/missionary with the Korean Presbyterian Church.  Pastor Lee is based in Morogoro, Tanzania where he has established a school and planted several churches.  Pastor Lee invited us to come and share and several felt God’s call to go out to Tanzania.

Masai Women A Masai woman that we met when we stopped for what turned out to be an impromptu meeting and meal.  As Masai mainly farm cattle this was a challenge for the vegetarians in the team!
Masai Church At the Masai church teaching them 'Our God is a great big God'!  It became our theme song for the whole of the mission.  At this particular church Pastor Stephen's message had to be interpreted twice by the gentlemen in this picture!

Secondary School, Morogoro At the school established by Pastor Lee.  There is very little secondary education in Tanzania.  There is no state education beyond primary age.

Chalinze Church The church in Chalinze.
Zanzibar Trainee Teachers This was an amazing experience.   As part of the mission we went to Zanzibar and were asked to lead a youth meeting.  This youth meeting turned out to be a teacher training college where most of the trainees were muslims.  Yes you've guessed it 'Our God is a great big God'!!
Recuperation! Two days recuperation on the white sands of Zanzibar.
